How bad is the recession going to get?
Since everyone is now talking about swine flu and this is the most recent thing I have heard about the recession I wondered just how bad will it get?

It’s still going to get worse, with a million more unemployed by early – mid 2010.
After that the economy will slowly pick up.
Who knows thats why everyone is on hyper panic play. We will be ok, two world wars our economy survived so we can handle it. As for flu, we survived the black plague so we can handle that too. Just depends how things will turn out. As usual scare tactics
Swine flu is a hiccup for the economy, until this Government and it’s supporters finally admit that Labours policies are, and always have been, wrong then the recession will continue to get worse. We have still got to face 3 million + unemployed that will happen before the end of the year, with all the monetary implications that brings.
I posted 3 months ago that the statistics being published by the Government and others about how we were coming out of recession were rubbish and was told by a Labour supporter that I didn’t know what I was talking about and how he could teach me a lesson in economics. Guess who was right.
It’s very difficult to predict a recession.
I personally think that we are experiencing, in Britain anyway, a tiny dot of an uprise in spending which does go towards the philosphy that confidence is growing, however I think that we will see a stark drop in public finances because of more job cuts, leading to people being more scrupulous when it comes to their spending.
What tends to happen is that people migrate to areas where there is higher employment, and in areas where unemployment rises ‘petty’ crime tends to rise, like burglary and car theft. Also there will be a tendency towards social unrest and injustice, in areas where there is a high youth unemployment, leading to more ’social’ drug and alcohol use.
Although I suspect that university places will probably rise in places with people trying to further their prospects of job hunting.
I think globally the rich will still continue to capitalise on the poorest members of society and continue to grow rich, because that is how the world works at present. I don’t think that the corruption of politicians will ever change either.
I hope I am wrong, but my guess is that we haven’t even hit the worst of the recession yet. NONE of the govts figures ever even add up, they are still allowing mass immigration in spite of ever increasing queues for jobs. Manufacturing output has never been worse and we are importing far more than we are exporting. The swine flu is also far worse than they are telling us, and they will not even have time to test the 1st vaccine when they are forced to start issuing it en-mass. The SF will be worse in the winter of course, and the fact that cases DOUBLED during last week alone says it all. The govt are a bunch of liars.

As bad as you want it to get. Some people have set up a small biz and are doing okay whilst doing part-time work. It does depend on you and what you’re prepared to do to earn extra money to support yourself.
I’ve seen reports that it’s the worst since records began, and doesn’t seem to be getting that much better… trust me, you probably don’t want to know how much worse it could get.
